Welcome from Adrian Gorst, Director of IT

I joined Tower Hamlets in July 2017 to deliver better public services at a lower cost through the use of technology and set out a three-stage plan to fix urgent problems, modernise our technology and enable the Council to innovate.

The urgent problems are fixed, we are now using modern cloud technologies and are largely free of our legacy infrastructure, and ready to innovate. It’s a fantastic time to join us and help shape the future of the Council.

A vital part of this is extending our services beyond the Council and promoting digital inclusion across the Borough, so we welcome candidates who understand the diversity of the borough and are passionate about making a difference to the lives of our residents.

We recently changed the way we deliver IT services, with our nearly decade-long partnership with Agilisys ending amicably and more functions returning in-house and others being commissioned from specialist providers, ANS, BT and XMA.

Digital, data and technology is at the heart of the Council and its services, we have signed the Local Digital Declaration, and we have secured investment to implement our plans.

Our existing team and the colleagues who joined us from Agilisys bring enormous experience to the Council, however with an ambitious technology investment plan we need more people to accelerate our delivery.

I am looking for colleagues who are going to challenge us to be better; who are committed to delivery, who will learn from others and share their expertise across and beyond the Council, and make a real difference to the Council, our residents, and all those who work, visit or pass through Tower Hamlets.

We welcome people from all backgrounds, and you don’t need local authority or even public sector experience, so long as you firmly and actively support our TOWER values.
