Deputy Head of Electoral Services

Role summary

To work with the Head of Electoral Services to oversee and manage the coordination, planning, and conduct of all polls held in Tower Hamlets. To assist, on instruction from the Head of Service, in the effective management and operation of Electoral Services, deliver the annual canvass, implement Individual Electoral Registration (IER), produce the revised Register of Electors, and oversee compliance with the requirements of the Elections Act 2022.

Coordinate and implement outreach activities to encourage registration.

To serve as the Deputy Head of Electoral Services and manage staff where necessary as instructed by the Head of Electoral Services.

About you

You must have knowledge of Electoral Services operations, legislative framework, and associated risks.

An understanding of best practices in Electoral Services, customer care principles, and relevant quality standards.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate should possess the AEA Certificate and demonstrate a willingness to pursue the AEA Diploma upon accepting the role.

·      Proven experience in working with a multi-disciplinary team.

·      Ability to maintain objectivity and confidentiality.

·      Fully proficient in IT, with expertise in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and e-mail applications.

·      Experience in working within an election office.

·      Experience of managing staff commensurate to the role
