Casual Events Supervisor

Join the Arts, Parks, and Events team as a Casual Events Supervisor.

Tower Hamlets, in the heart of east London, is one of the UK's most culturally vibrant and diverse areas. We have a range of commercial and community festivals, events and exhibitions taking place in all our parks, open spaces and venues. To support the delivery of commercial activity, the Arts, Parks and Events Team is seeking to recruit additional casual event supervisors to oversee the safe management of our buildings and hires in our venues: The Art and Ecology Pavilions in Mile End Park and The Brady Arts & Community Centre and Kobi Nazrul Centre in Whitechapel. The role will work across all the venues.

Event Supervisors will perform a key role in overseeing the smooth running and operations of our venues for commercial hires. They will provide excellent customer service, manage casual events assistants and external security staff. As part of this role, you will be required to move furniture and equipment and supervise and set up audio/visual equipment.

Successful candidates will have experience of event or venue management. They will be creative and energetic with a can-do attitude. We are looking for effective communicators who can work with a flexible approach, have experience of leading a team and experience of running audio-visual equipment and working at events.

You will be required to work shifts within venue operational hours, with no guarantee of hours or shift patterns. Supervisors must have availability to work Monday to Sunday, with a high volume of shifts expected to be available for evening and weekends. You must be able to work unsociable hours (early mornings and late evenings with notice).

Full induction to the venues and training will be given.

Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.

Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class. We are a Disability Confident Employer, which means applicants who declare a disability and meet the essential criteria for the post are guaranteed an interview. Care experience has also been adopted by the Council as an additional protected characteristic.

We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
