Service Charges Team Leader
We are currently looking for a Service Charges Team Leader to join our Leasehold Finance Team, which oversees the calculation of the day-to-day service charges as well as the annual major works for the borough’s over 10,000 leasehold and freehold properties.
The team also takes the initiative in presenting the service cost, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
Key Responsibilities:
The position would suit a service charge professional with substantial experience setting leasehold service charges for a local authority or housing association.
The ideal candidate will have strong IT skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to handle enquiries and provide satisfactory explanations.
Leading a busy team demands an organised approach to service charges production, as well as being a great team member by setting a good example, being flexible, and approachable.
To assess and present financial and statistical data as directed in accordance with pre-determined targets.
To ensure that the service charges are issued within the statutory deadlines.
You must also be aware of current housing legislation pertaining to Leasehold Service Charges.
You will also be needed to attend evening meetings on occasion, as well as provide evidence in first-tier tribunal proceedings.
Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.
Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.
We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
