Public Health Programme Manager - Healthy Communities

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic individual, with a passion for community development to join our Healthy Communities Public Health team in Tower Hamlets.

Our unique function works to enable communities to drive change at a local level and embed strategic insight across the Council to influence positive health outcomes and address health inequalities in Tower Hamlets. You will work alongside three other Healthy Communities Programme Managers, each responsible for one of our localities. Key responsibilities include:

·      Providing public health leadership to multi-agency, locality-based resident co-production programmes such as Communities Keeping Well including developing communications assets

·      Developing strong relationships with partners and projects in the North West of the borough

·      Leading on health inequalities Global Majority community commissioning to address long-term condition prevention and setting up monitoring and evaluation.

As this is a short-term opportunity, the successful individual will need to demonstrate that they can pick up the portfolio at speed and make a significant impact over the short period.

The post holder will work across the Public Health department, the council and with wider partners, including Tower Hamlets Together, NHS, community and voluntary organisations as well as universities. You will drive partnerships, planning and community engagement as well as public health commissioning, monitoring and evaluation.

This role will involve supervision of staff, trainees and volunteers and leading on agreed projects and programmes. 

You will report to the Healthy Communities Programme Lead and will assist on aspects of the Healthy Communities programme, taking the lead for specific programme areas as agreed. The post holder will deputise for the Programme Lead where required.

Additional Information

You are likely to be requested to be available for occasional evening and weekend meetings, which are met within the requirements of the role.
