Practice Manager (Legal)

This is an exciting time to join the Council as we bring the old Royal London Hospital in the heart of Whitechapel back to life as the Council’s administrative centre and Town Hall. Conveniently located opposite the underground station with good links including Cross Rail. Tower Hamlets offers the best of London in one borough. The list is long but includes Brick Lane, Victoria Park, Canary Wharf, Columbia Road market, Tower of London, V&A Museum of Childhood and Whitechapel Art Gallery.

Our Legal Team has a crucial role providing the full range and variety of expert services across all areas of the Council’s work.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Manager to join our highly skilled Lexcel accredited legal team. The post will afford you the opportunity to influence practice and process across a team providing the full range and variety of expert services to client departments, an Arm’s length management organisation (ALMO) and some schools.

As an integral part of the Management team you will play an important role in the future development and enhancement of practice and process so as to improve efficiency and service delivery in line with strategic objectives and service plans of the team. Your duties will include budget management, recruitment, monitoring income under Service Level Agreements, and managing a small practice management team.

You will be fully involved in the general running of the practice and will demonstrate an understanding of the technical, IT and Case Management systems used, and will help to ensure that standards and compliance requirements are met.

In addition to having excellent communication skills, you will have proven leadership supervision or management skills gained at a substantial legal or similar professional organisation. Also, you will be business focussed, be able to project manage and have the flexibility and drive to enable us to innovate. The last 2 years have seen the legal team embrace cloud based technologies, Docusign, CaseLines and FPL. As Practice Manager you will be expected to take this to the next level as we look to update our Case Management System.

If you are committed to working as part of a team and strive to deliver exceptional service wherever you can, we would especially like to hear from you.
